Our Basic Home Caregiving Services at BetterHealth LLC focuses on assisting individuals with their day-to-day activities, ensuring they maintain their independence and quality of life at home. This service is ideal for those who require assistance with personal care but do not necessarily need complex medical services. Our caregivers are trained to offer not only physical assistance but also companionship and emotional support. We aim to support our clients in leading a safe, healthy, and dignified life at home.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF OUR CAREGIVER

  1. Perform simple procedures as an extension of therapy services under the direction and supervision of the therapist:
    • Range of Motion exercises - therapeutic or passive range of motion.
    • Home exercise program
  2. Perform personal care activities of daily living, including but not limited to:
    • Bathing - full bed bath or assist with sponge bath, tub bath or shower
    • Shampoo/hair care
    • Oral hygiene/denture care
    • Shaving
    • Dressing
  3. Assist with ambulation, transfers and exercise.
  4. Assist with body positioning or transfers of clients who are not ambulatory.
  5. Perform household services essential to health care at home, including but not limited to:
    • Meal preparation/feeding
    • Laundry
    • Light housekeeping
  6. Administer medications and treatments under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse (refer to Medication Administration section below).
  7. Feed clients who, because of their condition, are at risk for choking.
  8. Assist with bowel and bladder control, devices and training programs.
  9. Simple dressing/non-sterile changes that do not require the skills of a licensed nurse.
  10. Routine care of prosthetic and orthotic devices
  11. Report changes in the client's condition and needs to the Registered Nurse.
  12. Complete the appropriate records to document cares given and pertinent observations.
  13. Respond and attend to client requests promptly.
  14. Maintain proper hand washing techniques.
  15. Communicate effectively with all members of the interdisciplinary team.
  16. Maintain a safe client environment.
  17. Maintain client confidentiality; treat clients and families with respect.
  18. Understand, accept and respond to the emotional needs of each client.
  19. Participate in in-service programs to meet compliance requirements.
  20. Accept and fulfill assignments with the Agency; exercise judgment in accepting assignments.
  21. Perform other related duties and responsibilities as deemed necessary.

Medication Administration

With instruction and supervision from a Registered Nurse, our Home Health Aide may administer medications, whether oral, suppository, eye drops, ear drops, inhalant, topical or administered through a gastrostomy tube if the medications are regularly scheduled. Delegated Medical or Nursing and Assigned Therapy Procedures Our Home Health Aide may perform delegated medical or nursing and assigned therapy procedures if:
  1. Instructed by a Registered Nurse or Therapist in the proper methods to perform the procedures with respect to each client.
  2. Our Registered Nurse or Therapist specifies, in writing, the instructions for performing the procedures for each client.
  3. Prior to performing the procedures, the Home Health Aide demonstrates to a Registered Nurse or Therapist the Home Health Aide's ability to competently follow the procedures.
